Infinity Horizon: install, sign in and play Forza Horizon 2 online

Updated October 25, 2026 — checked against Infinity Horizon v1.0.12. This replaces the old ForzaInfinity-POC installer guide. For future releases, always check the official repository and release notes.

Infinity Horizon (Infinity Launcher) is a separate launcher for Forza Horizon 2 on PC. It works with an existing Azimuth installation and provides profile management, access to online worlds, a multiplayer host interface and an official mod catalog. The launcher does not include the game, Azimuth or the online backend. It is separate from FH2MP and FH2Net.

1. Requirements and backups

•Your own legally obtained Forza Horizon 2 Xbox One game files and a working, compatible Azimuth installation. Check the version and setup status inside Infinity; do not assume any Azimuth build is supported.

•Windows x64, or Linux / Steam Deck with native Steam, Proton and the Steam Linux Runtime installed.

•Internet access and a compatible Infinity backend for online features. Offline play does not require an Infinity account.

•Back up Azimuth and your game saves before changing multiplayer integrations. Avoid installing competing multiplayer hooks into the same Azimuth folder.

The game saves remain under <Azimuth>/data/titles/1A96545B/saves/player-1/. Infinity manages separate user-profile folders there; it does not move all saves into the launcher directory.

2. Install Infinity Horizon on Windows

1. Close the game and Azimuth.

2. Open the official release page. Download the Windows x64 ZIP for the latest release (v1.0.12 when this guide was updated).

3. Extract the ZIP to its own folder, separate from Azimuth. Keep the extracted files together, including signature files where provided.

4. Run `infinity.exe`. Starting Infinity does not launch the game automatically.

5. Let the launcher find Azimuth. If it cannot, open its Azimuth setup / Configure screen and choose the directory containing azimuth.exe.

6. Follow the launcher's setup checks. If the Infinity hook must be installed or updated, use the launcher's own verified installation flow with the game closed. Confirm the Azimuth setup status is ready before playing.

Do not follow the old `ForzaInfinity.zip` + `Install.cmd` instructions. They belong to the previous ForzaInfinity-POC project, not the current Infinity Horizon launcher.

3. Install on Linux or Steam Deck

The Windows x64 launcher runs through Wine/Proton. On SteamOS or Debian, first install native Steam, a Proton version and the matching Steam Linux Runtime.

Use the maintained official Linux / Steam Deck instructions. The developer's installer helps select Proton, locate Azimuth, create a launcher/Steam shortcut and install updates. It stores launcher files under ~/.local/share/InfinityHorizon.

Follow the current official installer instead of using the old POC install.sh instructions.

4. Sign in and create a profile

1. Open Infinity and select Sign in. Authentication happens in your web browser; the launcher does not need your password. If the browser does not open, the launcher offers a code-based sign-in option.

2. If this is your first sign-in, complete the first-profile setup. Later, use Profiles to manage profiles for your account.

3. Choose the available mode for your account. Noob is available for free accounts and can start from a local/offline save; Hardcore is a fresh, progression-checked career for eligible Infinity Supporters. Hardcore-to-Noob conversion is one-way.

4. Check the selected profile and any save-import or sync prompts before starting. Profiles use different save folders. Cloud saves depend on the profile's eligible mode; do not assume every offline/Noob save is uploaded.

5. Choose your profile in Profiles and use Play online when the backend is available.

You can still play offline without signing in. Hosting or joining online worlds requires an Infinity account.

5. Join a multiplayer world

1. Sign in and select the profile you want to use.

2. Open Worlds in the Infinity launcher and use Refresh to see available worlds.

3. Select a world and press Join. If it is password-protected, enter the password when asked.

4. Follow the launcher into the game/session. A world may be full, or the free-world service may place you in a queue. Try a different world or retry later if no place is available.

Free accounts have access to the free-world pool; access to other world types can depend on account tier and current server availability. Online features require a working Infinity backend. The old in-game Settings > INFINITY > FIND WORLD guide does not describe the current launcher flow.

6. Host your own Free Roam world

1. Sign in, choose your profile and open Host a world in the launcher.

2. Set a world name, maximum players and any available visibility/password options. You can also configure whether races are enabled.

3. Review the displayed UDP port (the current interface defaults to 5101) and the optional UPnP setting. Router/NAT/firewall limitations may affect incoming connections.

4. Save the settings and select Host. Follow the launcher prompts to start the session. Your world can appear in the world list when a slot is available.

Some visibility controls, such as friends-only or an allow list, are reserved for Infinity Supporters. Hosting and online play may be limited by backend availability. For public worlds, prefer players you trust; the developer warns that multiplayer bugs and crashes can still occur.

7. Mods and compatibility

Infinity Horizon includes an official mod catalog with verified downloads, install previews and dependency handling. Extra Options is not mandatory just to play online or offline. Mods may have their own requirements.

Infinity Horizon, FH2MP and FH2Net have different multiplayer components. Do not combine their networking hooks in one Azimuth setup unless compatibility is explicitly confirmed. FH2ML compatibility has not been verified.

Troubleshooting

•Azimuth not found / wrong version / hook not ready: Open Infinity's Azimuth setup/Configure view, select the correct azimuth.exe directory and follow its version and verified-hook checks. Keep the game closed during repairs.

•Sign-in fails: Complete authentication in your browser or use the launcher's code option, then check whether the Infinity online service is available.

•No worlds, world full or queue: Use Worlds > Refresh and check the online status. An empty list is not necessarily an installation failure.

•Friends cannot join your hosted world: Check whether it is listed, whether a password or visibility restriction applies, and review your NAT/firewall status and the UDP port shown in Host settings.

•Progress is missing: Make sure the right Infinity profile/offline mode is selected. Do not manually overwrite save folders; use the launcher's profile/save tools and your backup.

•After an Azimuth update: If Infinity reports a missing or incompatible hook, use its own setup/repair flow instead of manually replacing game DLLs.

•Using an older guide? Ignore the old Install.cmd, FH2_ExtraOptions.ini Server= and in-game CREATE PROFILE steps. Those refer to an earlier project.
